Captain America: Civil War directors say there could be 3 post-credits scenes

The season of battling superheroes is upon us, finally! Netflix has Daredevil and The Punisher facing off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and next week Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice will finally bring The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel into conflict.
Closing out superhero infighting spring and kicking off giant blockbuster movie summer will be May’s Captain America: Civil War, which recently dropped a new trailer unveiling the MCU’s version of Spider-Man .
Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Civil War and the previous Captain America movie The Winter Soldier, said in a co-interview with Forbes that they always intended to unveil Spider-Man in a Civil War trailer, but the deal to get him into the movie was so complex, the Spider-Man aspect of it was a secretive process. “We were very quiet about Spider-Man’s involvement in the movie for much longer than we would have been. We were artificially silent on the character because it was such a sensitive business deal still being worked out even while we were shooting,” said Anthony Russo.
They weren’t going to skimp on the full Marvel Studios casting process though, even if the Peter Parker/Spider-Man character has a limited part in the movie. “We tested Tom Holland vigorously with Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr,, we screen tested him along with several other actors,” says Anthony Russo. “It was a very intense part of making Captain America: Civil War because he was an important part of the movie to us. Finally it’s all secure and we’re at a place where we can present him even in just a small taste.”
The two directors aren’t just in charge of the first movie of Marvel’s “Phase 3” of movies, they’re in charge of the two-part finale Avengers: Infinity War Part Oneand Two. The brothers boasted that there were 67 Marvel characters that would appear in those movies in some capacity or another, but have since admitted that there’s no script so that number is just an estimate. The Russos plan to try and bring it all together, and by all they mean both Marvel characters from “all corners of the MCU” as well as introducing new ones.
The promise of “new characters” doesn’t cover any characters from any of Marvel’s upcoming releases between Civil War and Infinity War, which are: Luke Cage and Iron Fist on Netflix, Bendict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, any new characters from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the Spider-Man solo movie, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther. The Captain Marvel and Ant-Man and The Waspmovies fall between the two Infinity War parts, so maybe those characters would still qualify as “new.”
When pressed by Forbes about if there was going to be a Doctor Strange cameo in a post-credits scene for Civil War, Joe Russo said: “We can’t say who is going to be in it but we can say that there certainly could be one, or two, maybe three. We can confirm that you should stay sat in your seats when the movie is done.”
Wait, three scenes after the movie is over? What movie are they setting up?Doctor StrangeBlack PantherGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? Is Thanos worming his way into the very end of Civil War?!?! That would really make itAvengers 2.5.
If you missed the news, Captain America: Civil War has a two-hour and twenty-six minute runtime, AND there might be a bunch of world-building through post-credits scenes. Marvel must be really confident in this movie if they think audiences can endure two and a half hours of mainlining MCU characters fighting.
